Zolo is a peg and hole construction toy with a definite artistic bent. Unlike Lego, Meccano or even Bacobuild (ask Grandad, kids!), Zolo is not a "build using mechanics" set. It involves imagination and, at times, a degree of belief suspension. It's inspirational shapes are a bizarre combination of shapes and colours that would not look out of place in a Tim Burton film, or a painting by Miro. |

It was designed by Sandra Higashi and Byron Glaser, who have produced some other similar products, which we will never see over here in the UK. The pieces are moulded in plastic and are brightly coloured with swirly patterns and spotty blobs. Each set comes with its own individual collection of bits, it is impossible to create anything vaguely symmetrical. There is certainly no place for anything with a right angle! The latest addition to the Zolo range is MotoZolo (large GIF file for demonstration included!) - read more about that here! |
